Content / Overview 

No matter where you work or what you do, Business Studies will be relevant. The knowledge and skills gained on this course will be useful for the rest of your life.  You will learn how businesses plan and organise their activities, how they motivate employees and how they make profits.  You start with understanding how a business works in terms of marketing, finance, people management and production management.  Following this you gain an understanding of how these combine in order for the business to meet its objectives;  also how external factors such as pressure groups or a recession affect this. 

 

Students benefit from visiting speakers and visits to companies in this country and abroad.  This popular course boasts an impressive success record with most students going on to study a Business related course at university.



Delivery Method 
Lectures, group discussions, problem-solving activities, case studies, role play and written work.

Assessment 
100% external exams.

Progression 
Business BA (Hons) at Guildford College or university, plus other occupations within the business sector.

Homework 
Weekly homework is set, including reports, essays, research tasks and tests.

Additional Information 
AS and A2 textbooks and a calculator are required. The department encourages students to attend two external revision workshops at an estimated cost of £30 each.  





All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
