Content / Overview If you’re interested in developing drama and theatre skills, this challenging course is for you. There is a strong emphasis on practical performance work; and your analytical skills will develop through exploring play texts and theatre styles in the College’s performance studio and through numerous theatre visits.Assessment is by practical performance work, coursework and a written exam at the end of A2 only. You should be energetic, enjoy working with others, and have a sense of fun and curiosity. You should relish the discipline of production work, whether as an actor, designer or technician. This course will provide you with a range of transferable skills, much valued in the working world. You will gain increased confidence and improve your skills in communication, creativity, analysis, decision-making, and your ability to work effectively in a team.
Delivery Method Practical performance skills, theatre visits and coursework.
Assessment AS Unit 1 (40% - written coursework, practical exploration): Unit 2 (60% - practical with small written element). A2 Unit 3 (40% with practical and written assessments); Unit 4 (60% - written examination).
Progression University or drama schools or careers in the performing arts.
Homework AS - Term 1 will require 200 words written weekly. AS - Terms 2 & 3 will require learning lines and rehearsing outside of lessons. A2 - Term 1 - individual research and line learning. A2 - Terms 2 & 3 - regular work on script for written exam and practical sessions.

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
