You should want to work with children or young people and enjoy communicating with children of all ages and working closely with their families.  The course is demanding and you will need good organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines.

Entry Requirements 
4 GCSE at grade C including English, plus a clear enhanced Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check, which you are required to pay for at the start of the course (£40).

Content / Overview 

The course includes studying in College and gaining experience in a variety of practical placements. You will learn about development, health and safety, equality and inclusion, nutrition, caring for sick children and communication skills. You will spend two days each week in a practical placement as well as some block placement periods. Your practical skills will be assessed by experienced professionals in your placements, forming part of the overall assessment for the course.



Delivery Method 
A range of methods including problem solving activities, lectures, group work, independent research, written exercises and watching training DVDs.

Assessment 
Examination, assignments, portfolios, case studies and a piece of research work.

Progression 
The CACHE Level 3 qualification prepares you to work unsupervised, or in a supervisory capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of Child Services. Also, it prepares you to move on to a higher education degree in a related area, including Foundation Degrees.

Homework 
Assignments are set on a regular basis throughout the year and will require additional time spent working at home

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
