Money Matters
Fees
If you are aged 16-18 on 1 September, a British or European Union resident and enrolled on a full or part-time Further Education course there are normally no tuition, registration or exam fees (except for HNC/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or fully costed courses).
All students aged 19 years or over on the 1 September are expected to pay for tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. However, assistance with these costs may be available if you are taking a government funded course.
What to Pay
On enrolment you must make:
-
Full payment, or
-
Sign a binding agreement to pay by instalments, or
-
Provide an ‘Authorisation to Invoice’ form, signed by your employer.
Your position on the course is nt secure until one of these actions has been taken. Your course may have any or all of the following fees attached to it:
-
Tuition fees
-
Awarding body registration fees
-
Exam fees
-
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checking fee (if necessary)
-
Other costs (such as books and trips)
In addition, students aged 19 or over on 1 September must pay an annual College administration fee payable once each year, regardless of the number of courses. Courses that have a strong practical emphasis may require appropriate clothing and equipment. You should contact the College
before purchasing these items, as equipment must conform to health and safety regulations.
How to Pay
Payment can be made by:
Instalments: For courses over six months duration, where total fees exceed £150, the College offers instalment payments by direct debit. You will need to pay 25% of your fees and then four monthly
instalments. If your fees are more than £1,000, you can increase the number of instalments to nine.
The College makes a small charge for this service, which must be paid with your first instalment.
No interest is charged.
Sponsored students: If your employer or another person will be paying fees on your behalf, then it is your responsibility to ensure that the College receives signed, written evidence in support of this on an ‘Authorisation to Invoice’ form, available from the College Finance Office. This must be produced every academic year. Once a validly completed form has been accepted by the College your enrolment can be completed. Your employer will be sent an invoice for the full amount of your fees, which is payable in full on presentation.
