The Guildford College Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Collins as Interim Principal to take the Group, comprising of Guildford, Merrist Wood and Farnham Sixth Form Colleges, forward over the next few months.

David Collins CBE was Principal and CEO at South Cheshire College from 1993 – 2009. South Cheshire College was graded outstanding by Ofsted in 1999, 2004 and 2008, and was the first college to be included in the Sunday Times 100 best companies to work for in 2006 and 2007. Between 2009–2011 David was CEO of LSIS, the sector’s leadership and quality improvement development organisation. He is also a former President of the Association of Colleges.

David said: “I am really pleased to be taking up the Interim Principal appointment at The  Guildford College Group and very much looking forward to working with College staff and governors over the next few months to take the College forward. “

Stephen Caswell, Chair of Governors, welcomed the appointment and said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of David Collins as our Interim Principal for the next few months. We were very fortunate that our strong Guildford College Group brand attracted an excellent field of applicants for this interim post. Guildford is one of the larger colleges in the south east with an excellent reputation. David’s remit is to continue to take the College Group forward until a permanent Principal is appointed. I am confident that he has the skills and experience the group needs to maintain momentum through these challenging times."
