Tegan Creedy
A star was born when a triple A* student from Farnham Sixth Form College sang on stage at the new G Live theatre during Guildford College Group’s Graduation and Awards Ceremony last week (December 8).
Tegan Creedy, 18, showed that her skills are not just academic when she crowned her performance as Farnham College’s A Level Student of the Year Award with her accomplished blues solo. Former English rugby player and Strictly Come Dancing star Austin Healey was the guest of honour at the ceremony where students from across the Guildford College Group – which includes Farnham Sixth Form College – were rewarded for their achievements in a record year of success.
A talented pianist and violinist who teaches music in her spare time, Tegan is soon to travel to Bolivia where she will work on a project offering music therapy to orphaned children. With A*s in English, History and Economics, the Farnham teenager plans to study for a history degree after her gap year.
Described by her tutor as “the perfect student – committed, diligent and enthusiastic”, Tegan was a member of the student parliament and a winner of the annual John Goddard Award, given to support the recipient in undertaking a voluntary work or personal development project. Tegan said: “I loved my time at Farnham College and winning the award is a real honour.”
Alex Hall, of Aldershot, was named Farnham College’s Vocational Student of the Year at the ceremony. She gained a double distinction in the Media Production National Certificate and a B in her Film Studies AS level. According to her tutor, Alex’s work showed great technical ability and “her strength of character, sense of humour and positive attitude left a great impression”.
Their awards were sponsored by the Old Farnhamians’ Association. Farnham Sixth Form College also has its own Celebration of Achievement ceremony in which outstanding students are honoured.
