college+ It’s not all about hard work! You can sign up for loads of sport, physical and leisure activities at Freshers’ Fayre at the beginning of term. Activities include:

  • Duke of Edinburgh
  • Christian Union and hockey.

Trips and Expeditions

Our links with local and national organisations enable you to benefit from educational visits and visiting speakers. We have invited experts from all walks of life to meet our students and to share their experience and knowledge, from politicians to writers. Recent trips have included English Language carrying out research in the British Library and visiting the Globe Theatre; Media Studies touring the BBC; Sports students going to Wimbledon; Physics students marvelling at mechanics at Thorpe Park; English Literature visiting the battlefields of France and Belgium; Business Studies excursion to Prague; Travel and Tourism adventuring in Paris and Physics and Geography trip to Iceland.

Proposed trips include a Business Studies trip to New York, a Media trip to Hollywood and an IT trip to Barcelona.

  • Flown to Paris for the Disneyland Convention and Majorca to learn travel tips and techniques
  • Filmed the pilot for a new TV game show at BBC TV studios
  • Discovered the inspiration behind the poetic outpourings of World War I on a visit to France’s major battlefields
  • Presented Farnham’s Got Talent, raising over £100 for Comic Relief
  • Contrasted new technologies to old at Culham’s experimental nuclear fusion reactor and Didcot’s coal-fired power station
  • Put their goggles on to learn about the science of brewing beer at Fullers Brewery in a study of microbiology
  • Seen Shakespeare in performance at the Globe Theatre
  • Compared geographical techniques on field trips to Calshott Activity Centre, Southampton and Christchurch Bay
  • Explored collections and cultures at the Victoria and Albert and Science Museums
  • Watched the drama unfold at Farnham Maltings and London’s Wyndam’s Theatre
  • Found out about the live-saving work of NHS staff at Frimley Park Hospital
  • Visited world-class sporting venues Wembley, Wimbledon and the O2
  • Been on business and sporting trips to New York
  • Practiced biological sur veying methods during a visit to Swansea.
