Year 1 A Level Media are currently studying the film I, Daniel Blake
; a film about the benefits system and relying on food banks and community support.
In aid of this, the students at the College will be donating one item a day leading up to Christmas, to The Trussell Trust, a charity that co-ordinates the only nationwide network of food banks in the country. As well as donations from our Media students, donations will be welcomed from anyone and everyone who would like to help a wonderful cause, so please bring in your donations before the end of term!
The trust have worked with nutritionists to develop a food parcel that contains sufficient nutrition for adults and children, for at least 3 days of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families. A typical food parcel includes –
Cereal, soup, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes / pasta sauce, lentils / beans / pulses, tinned meat & vegetables, tea / coffee, tinned fruit & biscuits.
Alongside the standard food parcel, food banks also try to provide essential non-food items to adults and children in crisis, helping them maintain dignity and feel human again. These other items include – toiletries, household items, feminine products & baby supplies.
Thank you to everyone who has donated an item already and please keep the donations coming!
There will be a basket for collection in the Media classroom at the College- Room 422 so please feel free to drop by and donate at any time!
