Every November, men grow moustaches in support of Movember, the foundation which raises money for research into men’s health and supports programmes to enable men to live happier, healthier and longer lives.
One such man is Steven Bell, who lectures in Music Technology at Farnham Sixth Form College. He has decided to let his students at the College shave off his beard, in readiness for Movember. When speaking to the Surrey & Hants News, Steven said “I am asking for donations from our students and they can shave off my beard on the 31st October. As I have not been clean shaven for several years this will be a bit of a shock for everyone…”
Steven goes on to say “Working with young people makes me extremely aware of how difficult it can be for young people to talk about how they feel and their health. I want to lead by example and show them it is good to be part of the conversation.”
Steven has a fundraising page: mobro.co/stevenjohnbell and there is a Farnham Sixth Form College page too: moteam.co/farnham-sixth-form where you can see other staff members getting involved too.
Farnham Sixth Form College helps to make a difference to young people's lives by supporting Movember and encouraging young men to be open about their feelings, and talk amongst themselves and to others.
