Students at Farnham Sixth Form College got a taste of what studying Psychology at University will be like

Students at Farnham Sixth Form College got a taste of what studying Psychology at University will be like, as they assisted a former Farnham Sixth Form College student. Izzy, currently studying at Birmingham University, has returned to Farnham Sixth Form College, to gather data for her 3rd year dissertation. This gives students a real taste of how research is done in psychology.

Izzy said - ” it was a good experience to come back to Farnham where my passion for Psychology began”.  Izzy’s tutor, Sue Martin Head of Psychology, was very pleased to welcome Izzy back to the College to carry out research with her current students. She recounts “Izzy came to us from another local College having failed her first year there but went on to get an A* in Psychology here at Farnham Sixth Form College.”

Izzy initially joined a much bigger college but was unhappy with her first year grades, so made the decision to start again.  She remembers “… Luckily I got a place at Farnham College. In contrast to my previous sixth form, I felt supported and like I could succeed throughout my two years at Farnham.  I am now studying psychology at the University of Birmingham, something I would never have thought possible after my confidence was knocked during my unsuccessful year at another college. I am so grateful to Farnham for giving me a second chance!”
