I transferred from Alton College to Farnham halfway through my first year, due to personal issues, and it literally saved my future! I always try to persuade students to go to Farnham College now!

I achieved BAB and went on to the University of Liverpool where I obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Chemistry. I then attended Kingston University where I studied my PGCE in Secondary Science. Since then I have worked in a local school as a science teacher for two years.

If the staff at Farnham hadn't been so accommodating, or worked hard to build up my confidence as well as they did, I definitely wouldn't have done as well as I have for myself now. I currently tutor a couple of students who attend Farnham at the moment and they also agree!

Maths is taught extremely well and both of my teachers were very good at helping me get the grades I needed to study a very interesting topic at university.I currently write software for Maclaren's sports cars and I regularly use things I learnt during my Maths lessons at College, so if you want a job that involves driving super cars... then listen to your teachers!

College Course:

Health and Social Care BTEC

University:

University of Surrey

Degree:

Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care

Soundbite:

Without Farnham College I wouldn't have had the opportunity to realise that a BTEC suited my learning needs more than A Levels, and I left the College with double Distinctions in Health and Social Care.

Whilst at College I was a home carer and after leaving the College I worked in various full time roles in a nursing home for people living with dementia, a psychiatric hospital and a disability day service. I soon realised that these weren't challenging enough for me so I joined Frimley Park Hospital as a Band 2 Care Assistant in 2013. The following year I was promoted to a Band 3 Health Care Assistant and I joined the University of Surrey to complete my Foundation Degree.I am now in my last month at University, and in February I was promoted to a Band 4 Associate Practitioner in the Clinical Education Team at Frimley Health Foundation Trust.

Caring is my passion and Farnham made me realise my potential to deliver high quality care.

University:

University of Bristol

Degree:

Law with Study Abroad (LLB) Degree

Soundbite:

I really enjoyed my time at Farnham College. The staff were great in helping me throughout my studies, with choosing a university course and finding a university. The small classes meant that the teachers were able to give a lot of one-to-one assistance, and I was able to get to know everyone. It really felt like a family atmosphere.

After leaving Farnham, I went on to the University of Bristol to study my Law degree. After my first year, I was one off our students selected to transfer my degree to Law with Study Abroad, and in my third year I went to Nagoya University in Japan to study International/Asian Law and the Japanese Language. It was an amazing year, and I am so thankful to have been chosen to go. I am currently in the final stages of my degree and I have secured a graduate job in Japan, where I will work as an English Teacher for an educational company.

Degree:

First Class Honour Degree in Law; Post Graduate Diploma in Law

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Farnham College and was constantly supported by my teachers, something made possible by the small class sizes.

The College assisted me with my applications and prepared me for my step up to University. My law teacher at the time provided me with a solid understanding of what was to be one of my modules in my first year of University, which in valuably lightened the overall load of work that year.  Farnham College was instrumental in my successful transition into University and later post-graduate studies.

Degree:

Geography

Soundbite:

I'm currently studying Geography at University, which I'm really enjoying. Farnham College helped me prepare for life after College by offering multiple opportunities to visit Universities and find about various career paths.

My advice for anyone studying at Farnham today would be to read up on your subject and things which interest you, as they're great to include in your personal statement and talk about during your interview.
